Chiral Bis(oxazolinyl)phenyl Rhodium and Palladium Complexes

The transmetalation of Phebox-ip-SnMe3 [Phebox = 2,6-bis(oxazolinyl)phenyl] 1c with RhCl3(H2O)3 and PdCl2(PhCN)2 gave (Phebox-ip)RhCl2(H2O) 2a and (Phebox-ip)PdCl 3 under mild conditions in 45% and 96% yields, respectively. The crystal structures of (Phebox-ip)RhCl2(t-BuNC) 2b, which was obtained by the reaction of 2a with t-BuNC, and 3 have been determined by X-ray diffraction.
