Measurements of VOC emission of PVC floor-covering installation have been carried out to investigate indoor air quality.Drastic decrease of VOC was observed by ventilation of installation site.Although acetaldehyde was not detected from epoxy adhesives by the test of small chamber method,large amount of acetaldehyde was detected in the air of installation site.

It experimented to understand the long-term raduation characteristic of formaldehyde from a wood system material as follows.(1)A basic characteristic of desicator method is understood.(2)The material is gathered,and mearsured from an actual hiyse.(3)The outdoor exposure test is executed.(4)Formaldehyde radiation amount change in material processed because og high temperature and high humidity.The result.(1)When an initial amount of the radiation was large,the amount of the radiation was a decreasing tendency.(2)When the amount of an initial radiation was a little,the following amount of the radiation was also little during half a year.(3)In the material that had been gatheref from an actual house,there was a material that showed a high amount of the radiation.(4)Under high temperature high humidity condition of 60°C,the amount of the radiation has increased remarkably.

Since 1999,a research and development project on timber-based hybrid structures has been promoted in japan as a five-year national project.The objectives of this project are to develop high-performance timber-based composite members and timber-based hybrid structure,which consist of timber and other materials,to develop the evaluation methods of structural performance and fireproof performance for these structures,and to develop the design method for some typical timber-based hybrid structures.As a final report of this research and development project,outline of research items,some of the research findings,and outlines of proposed performance evaluation methods are summarized in this paper.

According to past studies,it is considered that the vapor permeability of coating materials is related to durability of RC components.However,it is pointed out that the grade og vapor permeability is easy to change by material amout,painting condition ,test method and so on.So,it is difficult to know the general value of vapor permeability each the material categorized in JIS.In this paper,it makes clear the range of the vapor permeability in past studies by literature survey.Also,it makes sure the validity of the suvey's results by a vapor test.

At present,degaration of materials by frost damage is serious ploblem.Siding boards are also damaged by frost deterioration.In order to presume frost resistance of materials,it is necessary to take account of the property change of materials in actual environment.The critical degree of saturation method,which evaluates the frost resistance of materials from a comparison of the crtical degree of saturation(Scr) and water absorption(Scap) of materials,has the merit to evaluate the property change of materials easily.This study researches the influence of alternating immersion to Scr and Scap,shows a moist state under a real environment through the outdoor exposure test,and compares it with critical degree of saturtion.

The steel balls and sandbag are used,and architecrural impact test is evaluated with energy more than the use of the Charpy's impact tester.And,the impact test of the outer wall and the floor material is done in not only the laboratory butt also the spot.A pressure element of the crystal was used,and this research examined the development of the impact tester which measures impulse force directly and that shock charactor.The characteristics of this testing machine can set up a position of a drop easily be sides that,and moreover an influence such wind es prevented,and it can be examined easily.

This paper is compared and considered the impact-resistant of fall-weight method by JIS A 1408(Test method of bending and impact for building boards).The tested samples were dry external panels treated by JASS27.The method of this experiment is a fall-weight method and it refers the diagonal lines-fized support of JIS A 1408.The impact-energy is changed is altering weight and height and the relationship between destuction-shape of each panels and thickness of boards is observed.Moreover,the destruction statements of panels which is changed the combination between fall-height and weight which gains same impact-energy is considered.Through the result of experiment,the limited impact-energy of each panels and thickness of boards which is never destroyed are calculated.Finally the limited impact-energy line of each boards is proposed.

In this paper,stresses of plastered mortar layers on concrete bodies and interfaces between backgrounds and the layers are dealt with on the case of drying shrinkage and the predicted methods which are a new theory based on presented imaginary two-layers models and the elementary bending theory are presented.The expemental data of two series which are studied on progress interval time and rendered constitution of cement mortar by one of authors for this analysis are used.The influences of various conditions of restrained transformation of cement rendering mortar layers by concrete bodies were quantitatively clarified.

Although the high-strength concrete are evaluated as having excellent frost resistance is researched that there are some high-strength concrete those frost resistance damage fell steeply,if the same freezing and thawing tests is done after doing out-door and in-door exposure.Thus,the occurrence of minute cracck is thought as a cause in concrete.On the oter hand,it is developed to siliceous surface protevtive aggents with an effect of the filling and a watwe-repellent effect of the craack,and it is expevted that frost resistance improve.In this research,the freezing and thawing tests is done to concrete that causes the crack because of dynamic and the out-of-door exposure,and the effect of the siliceous surfacce protevtive is examined.

Adhesive strength of the concrete surfaces made with resin and wooden form to attached mortars were investigated.The test results showed that the adhesive strebgth with resin form was close to that with wooden form.The resin form is recyclable and hence,authors conclude that the resin form is also suitable for the future constrution work from the view point of environmental aspects.

The influence of surface finish on internal restraint due to moisture destribution of concrete was investigated.The moisture disribution and the shrinkage strains were measured with ceramic sensor and embedded gauges,respectively.The test results showed that the internal restrains of concrete were much reduced with surface finish,and hence,authors concluded that the surface finish would contribute to minimize the risk of cracking of concrete structure.

Solvent-soluble fluoropolymer paints have been developed for the purpose of long-lived protection of buildings and other structures.In resent years,maintaining excellent appearances is being regarded as important in the market currents and moreover,reduction of VOC's of paints is desired in the recent environmental circumstances,especially,in the air polluyion.This pqper deals with fluoropolymer paintd of high durability,water-based and is soil resistant besides.The soil resistant technology for this water-based fluororpolymer paint is newly developed which is different from those of solvent-soluble paints.We discuss the mechanism of soil resistance(release) and the performance of coatings such as durability and recoatability,together with the applications for architectures in this paper.

In order to design a waterborne preventive stain coating material,the characteristics of organic-inorganic composite using colloidal silica and an acrylic resin emulsion and their application for exterior coating were investigated.The characteristics of the organic-inorganic composite films were evaluated by the contact angels for water.The dispersion state of colloidal silica in their films was observed wuth a scanning electron microscope(SEM) and a transmission electron microscope(TEM).Furthermore,the stain resistance of coating materials was examined by outdoor exposure test.

Bulk polymerization under high temperature and high pressure gives unique acrylic polymer.In this study,some kinds of acrylic polyurethane sealant comprised of the acrylic polymer were evaluated by accelerated weatherability test to investigate the relationships between weatherability and content,composition and polymerzation methods of acrylic polymer.It were the results that the sealantmade from the acrylic polymer of the bulk polymerization is superior to that of conventional polymerization,and that more amount of the acrylic polymer is better.On the other hand,the composition of the acrylic polymer did not affect the weatherability.

I assume it the low water cement ratio to improve the durebility of a concrete makeup,and it is the most common I am minute,and to grind an organization.However,I may produce different problems such as a cost,the self-shrincage,hydration fever to apply to execution of a true makeup,and difficulty is accompanied with an application concrete surface reforming materials(following reforming materials) attract attention from this recently.An ingredient seeps from the surface inside by applying it to the concrete surface,and this gives a new function to the concrete outer layer region or an inner deep part,and can improve the durability of concrete and materials aimed at letting a concrete original function recover is because is it.Generally concrete produces weathering deterioration by outdoor combination of a long term,and the durability of the paula concrete organization which became it falls by the weathering.Therefore the writers paid their attention to deterioration by elution of cement generation thing,the neutrality by carbon dioxide among this weathering deterioration and carried out an application experiment of reforming materials about main performance and permeability,water absorptivity of elution deterioration and the neutraliity of carbin dioxide deterioration.I report the examination result here.

Upon the initial application of composite panels using translucent FRP,in an actual building,consecutive tests were made and the following knowledge was obtained.1)Accelerated weathering testing of the translucent FRP composite verified it has sufficient weather resistance.2)Manufacturing and construction ccahracteristics were verified by manufacturing a trial,actual sized,large composite panel.3)Uniformly disributed load testing and FEM analysis verified it has sufficient wind resistance pressure efficiency.The feasibility of designing with FEM analysis in future applications was clarified.4)VOC emission rate was measured using a small chanber method verifying the absence of adverse effects on people in the gymnasium,whixh is used by many and various people.

In the architectural field,polished natural stone is widely favored for floors as well as walls because it imparts a feeling of high quality.However,since the surface of polished stone is very smooth,it becomes slippery,specially when wet.In this study,laser irradiation was used to form small holes on the surface og polished granite stone in order to roughen the surface without significantly affecting the external appearance.It was found that 0.2 to 2mm holes formed on the stone surface by laser were effective in preventing slipping without too much loss of gloss.

Eco-labeling systems to products,which have an advantage of environmentall aspects,are very effective to spread and make them known for uuse.However,many eco-labels have not been established on numerical standards,and so it is very difficult to select an appropriate product from all kinds of eco-materials.We have investigated faxtories of wooden building materials with eco-labels in Japan,and evaluated LCCO2,LCW of each material.As a result,LCCO2 and LCW of materials with the same eco-label are not necessarily similar with each other,therefore,the numerical evaluation methods for eco-materials are required in the near future.

Waste PVC wallpaper is compound building material thatt separation is impossible.So it is diffiicult to recycle under the present conditions.But,if recycling is possible,it is contributed to recycling rate improvement of waste plastic building materials.Therefore,by this study,we examine material separation technique and quality evaluation of the case that used reproduction materials.As a result,it is possible to separate og about 60% pulp in becoming slight powder.And it is thought that highly precise separation is possible by further examination.In addition,than each examination result,it may be said that use as reproduction materials of recycled PVC sheets possible.

Deterioration of outer of an aged building built in 1932 covered with terra-cotta has been checked by a new type of surface strength measurement apparatus which has been developed br the authors.Effectiveness of various repairing has been also discussed,based on the penetration speed of drilling tip of the apparatus.Followings have been found in the present experiment.1)Cause of deterioration of the terra-cotta can be discussed based on the penetration speed obtained by using the apparatus.2)Effectiveness of permeability-type agents on the strengthening of surface of the terra-cotta can be confirmed and discussed on test data from the apparetus.3)The permeability-type strengthening agent proposed in the present experiment mat permeate terra-cotta material by about 9mm.

The current allows a building to prolong its lifetime for having its outer wall strengthened and waterproof,with the use of modified acrylic resin,net,pin,and modified acrylic resin mortar.The modified acrylic resin creates waterproof barrier as it permeates into the deteriorated outer wall,and the modified acrylic resin also repairs the cracks as it generates capillary action.The net prevents the modified acrylic resin and modified acrylic resin mortar from cracking.The pin fastens the mortar.The modified acrylic resin mortar unites all th elements,with the help of modified acrylic resin as adhesive auxiliary material.

The stone is used as building finishing materials on the viewpoint of durability and visusl effects.However,it is difficult to find the research ab out the visual effects of stone.In this paper,we selected 9 types of Granite as specimens in the sensory test,and measured the color,glossines and roughness on the surface of specimens.Then,we examined the relationship between the phiscal surface and the impression of them.Finally,it was found that the range of brightness and chroma on the surface has effects on the evaluation of roughness,brightness and cmplexity.

In this paper,maximum tensile stresses of interfaces between concrete bodies and rendering mortar of wall tile finish are dealt with on the case that ceramic tiles of external walls expand under solar radiation.These stresses are obtained by two-dimensional boundary element analyses under a plane strain state.By the calculated results,it was clarified that the individual functions of ceramic tiles,cement rendering mortar for bedding or backgrounds and cement grouting mortar at joints between tiles in finishing layears had great influences on the maximum tensile stresses and there were quantitative relationships between mechanical properties og these materials and the stresses.

In general,construction and the aged deterioration can be enumerated in the factor of fall-off of tile,in tile technique at external walls except for the earthquake.And it is not necessarily considered to be appropriate to evaluate the danger of fall-off of tile by initial strength though adhesive performance of the tile is evaluated with adhesive strength.Moreover in the recent study,deformational performance test were conducted to examine adhesive performance of the tile.In this study adhesive strength test and a deformational performance test were cobducted to examine the influence that a difference by a method of construction,kind of materials and an environmental condition gave adhesive performance of the tile.

There is a report in 1987 about durability of surface treated aluminum building materials.Now we are having many results used for 20 years or more.So we reviewed the durability by the actual situation.The durability of the anodic oxide film were assumed to be 10 years,and combined coating film of anodic oxide and organic films were assumed to be 20 years.

We received scenery such as globalization and effective practical use of overseas material and carried out an overseas supply(Malaysia,Republic of Singapore,Taiwan) of thermoplastic fluorocarbon enamel paintingg aluminum panel.we carried out basic properties of matter such as hardness,adhesion-related and solvent resistance etc., resistance against humidity (a wet examination of 5,000time),corrosion resistance(salt splay test of 5,000 time),accelerated aging test (accelerated weathering test of 10,000 time) and outdoor exposure test (Chiba,Okinawa:for seven years).As a result,it was judged to hold a Japanese product and an equal quality characteristic thermoplastic fluorocarbon enamel painting for the decoration aluminum panel that was the examination overseas supply product that we intended for.
