Chlorosulfolipids are known as toxins causing seafood poisoning, but they have not been studied in detail. Recently, useful methodologies for assembling clorosulfolipids have been developed. This review focuses on the diastereoselective chlorination in total syntheses of compound 1 and malhamensilipin A (2).
