Transition metal-catalyzed bond-forming reactions provide many useful tools in organic synthesis, and various types of reactions keep being developed even now. A general transition metal-catalyzed reaction passes through several elementary processes between the metal complexes and various substrates. Recently, the intervention of radical species in transition metal-catalyzed reactions has been frequently exploited to develop novel reactions. This short review introduces recent examples of radical/transition metal cooperative reactions under the collaboration of photoredox catalysts and transition metal catalysts.
