A narrowband, high gain antenna and a wideband, low gain antenna composed of the unbalanced fed low profile inverted L antenna are excited by a Gaussian monocycle pulse voltage source and the time response of the voltage distribution and the current distribution at the feed point and the frequency response are compared. For numerical analysis, time domain solver of the electromagnetic field simulator WIPL-D based on the Method of Moments is used.

In this paper, an antenna system for a radio wave type laparoscope is proposed. The antenna system consists of one transmitting antenna and four receiving antennas. The diameter of the practical laparoscope is usually 10mm and microwave in the frequency of 20GHz is used. In this study, however, a system with a 2.5-times scale model (a diameter of 25mm, the frequency of 8GHz) is investigated in order to facilitate of the measurement. In the analytical model, the antenna system is faced to fat. The differences between the transmission coefficients and reflection coefficient (in the frequency domain and the time domain ) in the cases with and without the blood vessel are observed.

In this paper, we study the design of dual-polarized ring antenna with high gain characteristics. The proposed antenna can improve gain characteristic for co-polarization by reduced the cross-polarization. The proposed antenna consists of ring antenna, horn, annular ring, and circular reflector. The cross-polarization was suppressed by annular ring. In addition, these techniques can improved gain by 4.9 dBi with compared to previous antenna. The proposed antenna has a circularly polarized with average gain of 16.4 dBi covered from 1.4 GHz to 1.6 GHz.

The wireless power transmission system with the inverted L antennas printed on dielectric substrate is proposed and numerically analyzed. The end of center conductor of coplanar waveguide is extended so that the shape of antenna becomes rectangle. The design frequency is 2.45GHz. The size of the rectangular conductor plane is 36mm by 58.5mm, and the thickness of dielectric substrate is 2.4mm. When the distance between transmitting and receiving antennas is 10mm, the return loss frequency bandwidth less than -10dB is 38MHz and the same time, the power transfer efficiency becomes 79.41%. The power transfer efficiency is compared for different height of the antenna element.

A surface wave antenna having an antenna gain of 6.80 dBi and an FB ratio of 15.44 dBi at 8.4 GHz is presented. This antenna is vertically polarized and achieved unidirectional beam pattern in horizontal plane. It is composed of a loop element and an enclosing element which has an open end to obtain unidirectional beam pattern. Furthermore, a monopole array antenna model is used for verification of the antenna mechanism. The cause of the cross polarization is ascertained using the array model, and the method to reduce the cross polarization is also presented.

The dual band antenna composed of the unbalanced fed ultra low profile inverted L antenna on the rectangular conducting plane is numerically analyzed. The antenna element is composed by the semi rigid coaxial cable. The parasitic wire is located above the inverted L antenna. The size of conducting plane is 30 mm by 70 mm. When the length of horizontal element of the inverted L antenna is 30.1 mm, and the length of parasitic element is 31 mm, the S11 less than -10dB is satisfied from 2.40 GHz to 2.50 GHz, 4.42 GHz to 4.58 GHz. The calculated directivity becomes 4.43 dBi at 2.45 GHz, and 7.76 dBi at 4.50 GHz. By changing the length and position of parasitic element, higher frequency becomes to 3.75 GHz.

Broadband and small antennas have been required for various applications, such as high speed data communication and subsurface radar and so on. Typical broadband antenna is a bowtie antenna, which can achieve the miniaturization of the antenna and the enhancement of the bandwidth by changing the antenna shape. In this report, conventional curved folded bowtie antennas and its bending structure are investigated. The effect of the reflector is examined in the impedance and radiation characteristics. As a result, the broadband characteristics can be maintained when the distance between antenna and reflector becomes 80 mm. In addition, the degradation of an antenna gain is confirmed at 1500 MHz.

We have proposed a new spatial modulation system using polarizations, and several advanced planar antennas have been also examined to achieve the spatial modulation system with simple configurations. So far, an active array antenna which integrates a 12-patch microstrip array antenna and Gunn oscillator has been experimentally evaluated. In this paper, a microstrip array antenna integrated with a Gunn oscillator and two polarization modulators is proposed and evaluated. As a result of the experimental evaluation using a prototype antenna, it was confirmed that the polarization angle of the antenna was switched by changing the bias voltage applied to the modulator. The cross-polarization suppression was around 10 dB.

In this paper, a basic study of a multi-port fourth-harmonic Push-Push oscillator suitable for oscillator arrays is presented. In Push-Push oscillator arrays, oscillators are synchronized and the output phase difference is controlled by coupling circuits at 1/4 of the desired frequency. Therefore, wide range phase control of the output signal can be achieved. It is confirmed that the outputs of the desired fundamental signal and the fourth harmonic were obtained from respective ports.

Radar systems such as a collision avoidance system of cars have been widely used. In the systems, miniaturization and cost reduction is required. In order to solve the problem, the authors have been studied Push-Push oscillator arrays. In this study, characteristics of a novel 3-port Push-Push oscillator for the oscillator arrays is experimentally investigated. Two fundamental signals for synchronization and one 2nd harmonic output signal were obtained from the three ports.

Circularly polarized antennas based on a new principle using a double balanced multiplier are proposed to achieve wideband and its scene switching function. The double balanced multiplier is formed by connecting four diodes in a star configuration. 90° phase difference between two orthogonal modes on the patch is realized by controlling the bias voltage. Therefore, circular polarizations are obtained. RHCP and LHCP can be switched by the polarity of the bias voltage. In this paper, a parasitic patch is stacked on the driven patch in order to improve for performances.

Authors have proposed circularly polarized small microstrip antenna with crank slit. Although the antenna can be miniaturized by the crank slit, this antenna has a problem of reduction of gain and deterioration of manufacturing accuracy. In this paper, we solve these problems by reducing the number of bends of crank slits and simplifying the crank shape. Using simulation, it is confirmed that the size of the designed antenna is the same as the antenna which the authors have proposed and it has the effect of gain improvement.

This paper presents a broadband circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna using a circular artificial ground structure (AGS). This antenna consists of a radiating square patch with truncated corners, a modified circular AGS including non-uniform unit cells along the circumference of a circle and a circular ground plane. The proposed antenna radiates right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) with broadband CP characteristics achieved by reflected wave from AGS and radiated wave from the patch. The obtained -10-dB |S11| and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidths are 65% and 37%, respectively.

Network coding allows each node in a network to transmit functions of the messages arrived earlier on the incoming links to the outgoing links, while a today’s router can merely route and forward a copy of a received message. Network coding has the potential to increase multicast throughput over the limit achieved by routing. This paper discusses conditions that identify the alphabet size of linear network codes in case of directed acyclic networks from the algebraic point of view.

In general, receiving several radiowave signals interferes each other at a receiver. Under certain conditions, however, a signal having the largest magnitude controls the output at the demodulator in the receiver. The phenomenon is referred to as the capture effect. The report analyses the capture effect of two digital modulation signals having Rayleigh fading by means of the characteristic function method.
