Abstract

For the purpose of examining and extracting problems of recycling technique and system, we apply Life CycleAnalysis (LCA) approach to evaluate biomass resources recycling process in mixed farming based on cattle raising.Estimated Life Cycle Energy Consumptions (LC-E) and GHG Emissions (LC-G) per a head which are 11.4-12.0 GJ head-1yr-1 and 0.97-1.07 t-CO2 eq. head-1 yr-1 respectively, are show only few differences among smaller and larger farming scales. Other hand, ratios of Energy Consumptions and GHG Emissions to the type of resources inputted in agricultural activities are remarkably varied among the farming scales. Three scenarios; scenario of mechanical agro-wastes composting (S-c), scenario of methane fermentation and electricity generation with wastes composting (S-ge) and scenario of fodder crops cultivation expansion (S-1), are set to estimate and to compare LC-E and LC-G with present scenario. Estimated LC-E of S-c, S-m and S-f are 83% bigger and 13%, 6% lower than present scenario respectively, and LC-G of those are 41%bigger and 23%, 2% lower than present scenario respectively. It is considered that estimations of LC-E and LC-G in biomass resources recycling in agriculture are available indicators to evaluate biomass recycling technique/system at present standard and/or to examine overall effects of resources consumption shift in agricultural system such as replacement of imported feed with self produced feed.
