In the sandplay-constructions of the male Westerners, centralized patterns appear frequently. This image represents their modality of being-in-the-world, and the same pattern has been used in the majority of the main historical architecture. Meanwhile this pattern is dominant in the architectural history of the continental cultures of the Orient. Therefore it is expected that this pattern appears frequently in the sandplay-constructions of the Oriental males of the continental countries. In this paper, we verify this expectation and make a comparative study on the spatial characteristics of the continental and the Japanese cultures from a psycho-social point of view.
