This study conducts verification experiments for a minimum measurement of restrooms for wheelchair users in a public toilet. From our inquiry, one of the most difficult task to a wheelchair user in a public restroom is to make a favorable approach to the toilet seat through switching back.
This verification experiments suggested that the ideal space should be kept at least a scale of 1100×1500mm in front of the toilet seat, and this would make more flexibility about designing a public toilet for wheelchair users, especially in renovating old facilities.
