‘Kakigoya’ is a wooden attached hut used for making dried persimmons. We can see many of them in Hata-villege, Shimane Prefecture. The features of layout and structure of Kakigoya are as follows.
・They are built facing south on the slopes around houses.
・There are two types, old style including cowshed and new style for only drying persimmons.
・The shape of roof and the use of windows are advantageous for getting sunlight and wind.
・Amount of labor is reduced by using freight elevator and trolleys.
・Kakigoya is similar to the temporary huts in Ujitawara, Kyoto Prefecture and Nikkoji, Shiga Prefecture.
