Household attributes and electricity consumption of photovoltaic-system owners and non-owners before and after the Great East Japan Earthquake are investigated by using internet questionnaires. It was found that the photovoltaic-system owners have positively taken measures to save energy since before the disaster, take a strong interest in the renewable energy, and tend to avoid introducing all-electric homes after the disaster. Amount of electricity purchased by the photovoltaic-system owners decreases significantly compared to before the disaster. The monthly electricity consumption of the photo-voltaic-system owners and non-owners show no significant differences after the disaster. This may indicate that electricity-saving activities work well in the households of the photo-voltaic-system owners compared to the non-owner's households.
