We conducted an experiment in which subjects found the emergency signs and read its display under the positions and luminance conditions in which C class emergency signs could actually be installed in a 3m wide corridor. A display was used to change the luminance of the emergency signs and the background, as well as the position of the emergency signs in the experiment, and data was obtained for 77 conditions. As a result, we analyzed the effect of the luminance contrast, solid angle (apparent size), and emergency signs’ position on the time it takes to find them.
