In this paper, the arrangement of PS tendons around an opening of precast concrete panel construction is investigated by two dimentional elasticity. Assuming that the tendons are most effectively placed when they follow the directions of principal tension stresses, we determine these directions. When the opening is large, the anchoring of tendons at the boundary of opening cannot be avoided. The analytical solutions on such cases show that significant tension stresses occur near the opening to which attention need to paid. The results of our photo-elasticity experiments and F. E. M. calculations are in good agreement with the analytical solutions.
