Shonai Earthquake of 1894 was an inland earthquake with magnitude 7.0, and claimed 726 lives and 3858 house collapses in Yamagata prefecture. The authors have been continuing literature surveys on this earthquake and in the previous paper precise damage distributions in Sakata and Matsumine towns were discussed. Damage distribution is also discussed in relation with subsurface ground conditions.
