A literature survey was conducted on the transition of standards and test methods of slag aggregates for concrete. Until 1977, the specifications for slag aggregate were qualitative other than unit volume weight, and the approval of supervisor was needed when using. On the establishment of JIS for blast furnace slag coarse aggregate, foreign standards were referred. Afterwards the standards of other slag aggregates were established and revised independently. When comparing the standards for each slag aggregate, there was room for reconsideration on significant figures of specified value, classification of grading, content of fine particles and alkali-silica reaction test methods.
