Abstract
The earthquake named West-off Fukuoka Earthquake occurred on March 20, 2005. And the Fukuoka area suffered great damage by it. A lot of liquefaction phenomena were observed in reclaimed land of the Gulf of Hakata. We use GIS to overlay an aerial photograph taken in 1947 and March 21, 2005 on a current topographical map and examine relations between the location of liquefaction and the reclaimed land in the southeast Hakata gulf.
In addition, this earthquake produced the necessity to consider about the future earthquake of the Kego active Fault, because it locates in an extension line of seismic center of this earthquake. Here, we use GIS and show the relation between underground structure around the Kego active Fault and ups and downs of the surface of the land. Then we examine the land use there. This is the first work to prepare a basic data for proposal of taking necessary measures against an earthquake disaster. We report about these work results.
