Abstract

In Japan, there is a growing interest in life such as "multi-habitation" and "address hoppers," in which people leave their sedentary lives and become involved in multiple regions more deeply than in tourism, but do not take root there like in migration, and enjoy the benefits from mobility. The reporter focuses on "voluntary changes that individuals leave a sedentary life and come to seek a life with higher mobility," and proposes this as "de-sedentarism”. In this presentation, previous research on the concept of "lifestyle migration" and "nomadism" is reviewed, and the significance of introducing "de-sedentarism” is discussed.
