Abstract

The cation-exchange behavior of antimony(III) on Dowex 50W-X8 (H+ Form) resin using a mixed-solvent system of 0.2M HBr and acetone, methanol, ethanol, 1, 4-dioxan or tetrahydrofuran has been studied. The separation of antimony(III) from binary mixtures containing alkali metals, alkaline earth metals as well as some other associated elements was carried out by selective elution with 0.2M HBr in 80% acetone. The method is applicable to the analysis of synthetic mixtures, alloys and pharmaceutical samples.
