Abstract

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is doing study and research on development of millimeter radio wave technology, and its practical application to sensing systems since 1977. In 1984, a committee was established for the study and research for sensing system development, and the final report was issued in March 1991. The main characteristics of millimeter radio wave are extremely short wave length, large propagation losses These characteristics have suggested typical applications in sensing system. In day to day, people began to demand high quality life, and society tend to be supported by more and more aging people in future. The authors believe that these new situation need millimetere radio wave sensing system to enjoy salty life. The work reported here is concerned with the study and research results for millimeter radio wave sensing technology which carried out by the committee.
