The retention characteristics of supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) were represented in a similar manner as the McReynolds method in GC; the differences (ΔI) between the retention indices for five standard solutes were used. The difference in retention behavior between GC and SFC was evaluated by the angle between two retention vectors. It was suggested that cyclic compounds behave a little differently from acyclic compounds in SFC.
