The photoacoustic spectra of solid photosensitive uranyl complexes in the visible to near-infrared region have been measured during light irradiation at 420nm. The photoreduction products of uranyl ions have been identified as U(IV) ions and U(V) ions. The time course of these photoproducts indicates that U(V) ions are intermediate species in the photoreduction process.
