Abstract

The title compound, 2,5-bis(1-butyl-benzimidazol-2-yl)thiophene (C26H32N4O2S, Mr = 464.62), was synthesized and its crystal structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 8.7215(8), b = 18.9156(18), c = 14.7475(14)Å, β = 96.696(2)°, V = 2416.3(4)Å3, Z = 4; the final R = 0.0426 and wR = 0.1064. The molecules are linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonds (O-H…O, and O-H…N) to form a parallel dimer structure, which stabilizes the crystal structure.
