ANTIBIOTIC AB-64, A NEW INDICATOR-PIGMENT ANTIBIOTIC FROM ACTINOMADURA ROSEOVIOLACEA VAR. RUBESCENS

Abstract

A new antibiotic designated as antibiotic AB-64 inhibiting gram-positive bacteria was isolated from a rare Actinomycete. The producing strain was classified as Actinomadura roseoviolacea var. rubescens. Antibiotic AB-64, obtained as red powder, has a molecular formula C₂₆H₂₁NO₉(MW 491.46), and seems to be a new heteroaromatic compound based on its physical and chemical properties.
