ON THE MODE OF ACTION OF HODYDAMYCIN

Abstract

The present study was conducted to determine how hodydamycin inhibits microbialgrowth. Hodydamycin had no effect on either the cell membrane or the synthesis ofthe cell wall of susceptible organisms. The antibiotic inhibited protein synthesis throughits scissating effect on DNA. No effect on the synthesis of RNA was observed.
