Abstract

Measurement of the optical rotational activities of the constituent amino acids of antibiotic 333-25 identified 2, 4-diaminobutyric acid (D-form 1, L-form 4), L-leucine (2) and D-phenylalanine (1). The fatty acid consituent was determined to be β-hydroxy anteisononanoic acid by gas chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectra. Differentiation from the structure of antibiotic EM 49 is discussed.
