Cells of Aspergillus niger normally release not all but of some specific cell constituents viz., lysine, proline, ATP, P1, Na+, K+ and Ca2+ in the absence of mycobacillin. Mycobacillin enhances the release of these materials without causing lysis. The time and concentration of mycobacillin for optimum release depends on the nature of the materials involved.
