Luciogobius pallidus Regan 1940 is an endangered gobiid fish that is mainly distributed in western Japan and inhabits places where underground water seeps out, typically in sandbars containing lots of gravel. It is notoriously difficult to collect because it lives in underground water and quickly hides when exposed. Here, four L. pallidus were collected near the estuary at the Onosato River in Osaka Prefecture. Based on the collection location and morphological characteristics, they were identified as brackish water type. This is the first record of the species in Osaka Prefecture.
