In the rural arca, the effective water quality purification which is measured by the nutritive salts such as the nitrogen / phosphor is a use of the reed plant wctland. A purpose of this reseach is to clarify the nutritive salt removal ability of the reed wetland, in the winter period when the plant growth falls remarkably. In this test, the artficial wastcwater contained ammoniacal nitrogen as a principal ingredient was flowed into the artificial reed wetland planter. We measured the componcent and density of flow out water. As a result, the ammoniacal nitrogen was hardly detected. Also removal speed of the total nitrogen is 2. 164 g/m2. d and removal rate become 83.8%. It was clarified that there is sufficient nitrogen removal ability.
