This paper systematically summarizes the latest progress in delta wetland research, focusing on its ecological characteristics, biodiversity, ecosystem functions, ecosystem services, and the threats and conservation measures it faces. First, the paper discusses the formation mechanisms and fundamental characteristics of delta wetlands. It then delves into the importance of wetland biodiversity to its ecosystem, analyzing the functions of wetlands in hydrological regulation, biogeochemical cycles, and climate regulation. Based on this, the paper highlights the significance of delta wetlands to human society and explores the ecosystem services they provide. However, the increasing impact of human activities on delta wetlands has led to degradation and destruction, necessitating effective conservation and management measures. Finally, the paper reviews the current research hotspots and future development directions, aiming to promote the sustainable management and conservation of delta wetlands.
