Abstract

Arctic acid (1), arctinone-a (2), arctinone-b (3) and methyl arctate-b (8), minor components of Arctium lappa L., were synthesized via 5-(1-propynyl)-2, 2'-bithienyl (18) starting from 2, 2'-bithienyl (11).
