Among the determination methods of methylglyoxal those of Fischler and Boettner, Friedemann, and Neuberg and Kobel are the most reliable. The colorimetric methods of Ariyama and of Darrenseheen and Dreguss also give accu-rate results. The best conditions for these methods were ex-amined.
