Abstract
Evidence has been submitted to show that the mechanism of the decomposition of hexosediphosphoric acid into C3-compounds by coenzyme-free tissue enzyme is not identical in many points with that of natural glycolysis. This, coupled with the evidence given in recent literature, seems to furnish evidence, so far as methylglyoxal as the main intermediary in glycolysis is concerned, of the flimsy basis of the prevailing theory.
