Eurya vitiensis A. Gray is newly reported from Vanuatu. Although this plant in Vanuatu has often been identified as E. japonica Thunb., the morphological features do not agree with those of E. japonica found in Japan, but match well those of E. vitiensis which has been regarded as a species endemic to Fiji. It is conceivable that the plants previously reported as E. japonica in Vanuatu and those collected in Vanuatu for this study correspond to E. vitiensis. This species is different from that represented by two specimens from Vanuatu cited by Smith (1981) in lacking glandular margins on the tepales.
