Polygonatum kiotense, a new species assignable to ser. Bracteata of sect. Polygonatum, was described from the Kyoto basin, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The species is similar to P. falcatum and P. involucratum, but is clearly distinguished from the former by having inflorescences with bracts, curved floral tubes, free anthers and short styles, and from the latter by having a nodular and constricted rhizome, corollas with a narrow and handle-like part at the base, ascendant inflorescences, lanceolate bracts and long filaments.
