A History and an Aim of the Next-Generation Supercomputer Project(K Computer: Present and Future of the Next-Generation Supercomputer Project)

Abstract

A history and an aim of the Next-Generation Supercomputer Project are described in detail. It includes the last year change of the project to the High-Performance Computing Infrastructure (HPCI) Project, aiming to build a nation-wide HPC infrastructure. An outline of the HPCI Strategic Program, planned for strategic use of HPCI, is also described.
