Abstract

This research aims to consider the contents and the direction for developing educational materials on environmental education with including components on the role of waste pickers in the community waste management and with acquiring the capacity for the citizens’ appropriate waste disposal by the author’s action research, in order to alleviate waste picker’s social exclusion. It was developed as one of the learning programs with the following three steps; “(1) Stage for brainstorming (flip cards with quiz)”, “(2) Stage for learning enjoying (carta and board games)”, “(3) Stage for implementing action plan (action plan sheet)”. The needs for setting up mechanism to making regular use of the developed educational materials in the schools, for conducting the environmental education on the waste management together with households and community people, and the importance for cultivating community leaders on the waste management to realize it were clarified.
