Abstract

This study explored the current situation and determinants of anxiety for climate disaster among the general populace by using a questionnaire survey. Its findings revealed that concerns for vulnerable people and the disruption of public services are elevated, while the anxiety stemming from climate change-induced natural disasters is relatively subdued. A factor analysis confirmed the existence of two factors: "trait anxiety" and "state anxiety." A higher level of both factors of anxiety was found among women, households with two or more individuals, and participants who primarily relied on television as their source of information. Furthermore, a stronger sense of climate anxiety was reported among those who lived near steep mountainous terrains and recognized climate change and its effects.
