Abstract

Himemidori is a new variety for making Gyokuro, selected from japanese indigenous tea plant (Yamatya), originated in Yame district, Fukuoka-Ken.
The yield of shaded fresh leaf in the spring harvest time is about 300 kg. per 10 are and the qualities of made tea are very refined. This variety is scarcely suffered from disease, pest and cold injuries.
The cut rooting ability is not so good, but if we applied the etiolation method, the root developing become very easy.
