A novel 2,3,8,9-tetrahydro-1,4,7,10-tetrathiachrysene (7) was conveniently prepared by dithioacetalization of 1,5-decalinedione with 1,2-ethanedithiol followed by ring expansion and aromatization on treatment with tellurium tetrachloride. Electrocrystallization by anodic oxidation of 7 in the presence of suitable electrolytes gave the radical cation salts, (7)2ClO4 or (7)2BF4 with a considerable high electrical conductivity (0.4–12 Scm−1) and good thermal stability. Single crystal X-ray analyses revealed a segregated stack structure for 7 and anions in these salts.
