Abstract

Phase change induced by 40 keV He+ ion bombardment in α-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 was studied by conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy. From the similarity of ion bombardment effect and thermal annealing behavior, the significant role of thermochemical process after the propagation of the collision cascade for the final fate of the bombarded entity was suggested.
