Abstract

Flower-like BiOClxIy solid solution microspheres were synthesized with a 2:1 molar ratio of chloride (Cl) to iodine (I) by a solvothermal method. The surface area of such a sample is 52.26 m2 g−1, which is at least 10 times larger than that of an individual BiOX. When used as an adsorbent for the removal of organic dyes, the microsphere exhibited notably higher adsorption ability than the individual BiOX. The adsorption efficiency could reach nearly 100% within 10 min. Relevant characterization revealed that the microsphere consisted of accumulated nanosheets.
