Abstract

Zinc bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)amide] (Zn(HMDS)2) was found to be an efficient Lewis acid/Brønsted base cooperative catalyst for the direct alkynylation of nitrones. The activity of Zn(HMDS)2 was shown to be higher than that of other Zn species such as Zn(OTf)2-iPr2NEt and ZnEt2.
