Abstract

The effects of twisting cloth on the stress and elongation were investigated by using three kinds of cloths, each of them is made of polyester, cotton and silk fiber.

When the polyester fiber cloth was tested and the number of twist was less than five, the effects of twist were not large. The number was more than five, both stress and elongation decreased gradually.

The studies using cotton fiber cloth showed the results as follows : As the number of twist increased, the stress decreased markedly and elongation increased.

When the silk fiber cloth was employed, the twist made a small effect on both stress and elongation.
