Abstract

Expanded-metal is efficient in reinforcing concrete members on behalf of steel bar. Decrease of man-power in steel bar work and promotion of the capability of R.C. members can be obtained by using it.
Experiments were carried out on 1) bending reinforcement, connection and anchoring in slab, 2) shear reinforcement of wall, 3) shear reinforcement of beam and 4) shear reinforcement of column using expanded-metal.
In every case reinforcing effect was confirmed to be equal to or more than that of steel bar with allowable stress of 2 400 kg/cm2. It was also acknowledged that the length of connection and anchoring can be shorter than those of steel bar.
