Abstract
The inside structures of Kawasaki Man-Made Island on Trans-Tokyo Bay Highway were required rapid casting of large volume concrete within five months. The volume of concrete was about 130000 cubic meters, and the project consisted by slabs, side walls and diaphragms of shaft whose the diameter is 98 meters and the depth is 75 meters. Besides, several problem, for example, performance for corrosion protection against chloride attack and carbonation, the pumping capacity in the long distance of 400 meters maximum pumping length, and controlling of thermal cracking, were investigated. This paper describes the result of the pre-study for such problems and actual construction.
