Abstract

Medium-chain glyceride (MCG) enhanced the bioavailability of cefmetazole sodium, a watersoluble β-lactam antibiotic, after rectal administration to rabbits. The promoting effect of MCG on the rectal absorption of cefmetazole sodium was observed to be much larger than that on cefmetazole. The plasma concentration-time profile after rectal administration of cefmetazole sodium in MCG solution was similar to that after intramuscular administration.
