SYNTHESIS OF 4-TRIFLUOROMETHYLAZETIDIN-2-ONES BY A NOVEL 2+2 PHOTOCYCLOADDITION OF 3-TRIFLUOROMETHYL-QUINOXALIN-2-ONE OR-1, 4-BENZOXAZIN-2-ONE TO KETENE

Abstract

This is a description of the facile synthesis of 4-trifluoromethylazetidin-2-ones from 3-trifluoromethyl derivatives of quinoxalin-2-one and 1, 4-benzoxazin-2-one, using a novel 2+2 photocycloaddition of the latter compounds to ketene.
