Abstract
The volunteer activity, which is one of the new measure to conserve secondly grasslands, is gradually spreading in Japan. For extending or activating this action, we have to examine its benefits and problems while considering the present status of grassland conservation and the characteristics of work. Our questionnaire survey with people who conserve the grassland in Aso district revealed that the volunteer participants, no matter what they have no experiences, are required much more in an aging area. These results show that it is effective for the volunteer dispatch organization to grasp the number of successors or their possible work range of each area through collaboration with the administration, and to dispatch the volunteer participants who are matched in terms of number of people or ability with each area.
