Abstract

This study examines the changing Urban image and its significance by looking at the changes in the green space of Kyoto City in the 1950s. The results of the study , 1) In the 1950s, Kyoto's urban image changed twice. The first time was in 1955 when the city was designated as a green space, and the second time was when the green space was removed. 2) The first change in the Urban image of Kyoto city came about with the enactment of the Special City Construction Law against the backdrop of the government's intention to introduce a green space system in Kyoto City. 3) the methods used in the second Urban image conversion were same as the other city designated as a green space.
