We report a case of guttural pouch tympany in a male heavy draft horse. The five-month-old foal presented with tympanic swelling in the dorsal region of the right parotid gland and noisy breathing. Lateral radiographs showed tympanity of the right guttural pouch. Endoscopy showed projection of the ventral region of the right audictive tube into the pharyngeal cavity. The case was diagnosed as a unilateral tympany of the guttural pouch. It was treated with median septum fenestration performed through the right Viborg's triangle, while using an endoscope. The patient recovered well after surgery.
