Abstract
A liquid crystal lens with spherical electrode is numerically studied. When the spherical electrode closes to the liquid crystal layer, or a spherical electrode of a smaller radius of curvature is used, a large focus power can be obtained. With a larger radius of curvature or a thicker glass substrate that is between the liquid crystal layer and the spherical electrode, the liquid crystal lens exhibits better quality in a larger voltage range, and it is not easy for disclination lines to occur.
